So you're performing on the Electric, Cabaret, or Solo Stage?  Here's what you need to know ... before you perform.

Event Location:

The building is located at 55 M St, SE, Washington, DC.The Navy Yard Metro station is located directly under the building.

Your Performance Date:

It is your responsibility to understand where you are performing, when, and for how long. It is further your responsibility to ensure your performance date/time/length is correctly listed on the Artomatic Event Calendar (http://www.artomatic.org/event).

The Artomatic Event Calendar is the Official Calendar for the Event, meaning all timing questions will be decided in favor of the event calendar. If you believe the event calendar is incorrect, please let your stage managers know well before your performance, not on the same day. We may be onsite and offline and thus unable to assist in resolving the discrepancy.

Stage Management:

Your Performance Time:

Your performance begins as stated on the Artomatic Event Calendar. Further, your performance ends as stated on the same calendar. Please be aware we have built very short times between acts so there is no room for playing longer. The breaks may be as little as 5-10 minutes. Therefore you should begin setting up offstage before your performance. All setup time that occurs on the stage will be subtracted from your allotted time for performance.

Load-In:

The loading dock is located on the east side of the building.  The Electric Stage door is 25 feet to the left of the door leading into the building from the loading dock.  The Cabaret Stage is on the second floor, and the Solo Stage is on the third floor.   Load equipment into the the freight elevator (located on your right) for the two upper floor venues.

Street-Level Load-In and Parking:

All equipment load-in must be done through the building's loading dock on the east side of the building. No equipment may be brought through the building's lobby. None. Please abide by this restriction. (Thanks!)  Event volunteers will be onsite to direct you. They will not, however, be available to help you move equipment. Their task is to watch the loading dock and help guide cars in and out. You may not park here, this loading dock is for loading and unloading only. Park on the street, in a surface level lot, or underground in the garage below the building.

Please note:  Parking may be difficult to find when the Nationals have a home game.  On those dates, Metro may be a better transportation alternative.  Their schedule may be found here.

Check-In and Arrival Time:

When you arrive, please check in with the sound crew. We will have several sound persons working the three music stages. They may "float" between stages and can best be located at the main stages (Electric and Cabaret). It would be best to arrive at least half an hour before your set.

If you have a drumset or any instrument with a time-intensive setup, please arrive that much earlier. Likewise, if you have any equipment more involved than something needing a microphone or a 1/4" jack, communicate that need to the sound crew upon arrival. If you arrive late, be aware the time may be deducted from your stage time at the sound crew's discretion.

What Do You Need to Bring?

Bring your own amps, instruments and instrument cables, drums, CD players, turntables. You know what you need for your performance. We only have a PA. If it is important to your performance, please bring it.  And -- as mentioned above -- if it is more involved than something needing a microphone or a 1/4" jack, communicate that need to the sound crew upon arrival.

Sound Reinforcement:

Both main stages (Electric and Cabaret) have venue-sized PAs and a professional sound crew. We should have all the microphones you need. Please don't expect any equipment beyond what has been described. If you have special needs please communicate this with the sound crew upon arrival.  The Solo Stage will have a small PA with several mics/stands and DI boxes to support solo/duo acts or small groups.

Stage Size:

The main music stages are 12' deep x 24' wide.  The Solo Stage is 12' deep x 12' wide.  You should have plenty of room to shine!

Equipment Storage:

There is some storage in the storage rooms adjacent each main stage. This space is available at the sound crew's discretion based on the amount of space available in that room and on how busy the sound person is at the time you ask. His regular tasks will come first.

If the storage room is unavailable, there is ample space adjacent the stage. In fact, this is where drumsets and other time-intensive equipment should be set-up and broken-down. Owing to the very short time between acts (as little as 5 minutes) this activity should *not* be undertaken on the stage itself.

Bars:

The Cabaret Stage and Electric Stage will each have a bar. These bars will be open each night of the opening week. Owing to restrictions by the event's insurer, no outside alcohol may be brought into the building. Please abide by this restriction. (Thanks!)

Restrooms:

There are no restrooms in the Electric Stage venue.  All other floors have restrooms adjacent the stairwell doors.

Issues?

The sound crew are in charge of their stages. Please call the following stage managers if you have any problems that cannot be resolved by the sound crew. We will do our best to resolve the issues that arise.

Thanks for participating and enjoy your Artomatic performance!
