Site selection will occur the weekend of April 12/13 from 9 am – 4 pm each day.
You MUST bring your email confirmation at your selection time. Each artist will check-in at the 1st floor registration table. The volunteer behind the table will confirm your payment and that you have signed up for all your volunteer shifts. When your paperwork is in order, you will attend a short orientation about Artomatic, site selection day, what Artomatic expects of you as an artist, and what you can expect from Artomatic.
Artomatic 2008 is in a brand new, and very raw, building. The entire building is very similar to the eighth floor in the Crystal City Artomatic in 2007. Volunteers will be building plywood partitions from which to hang 2-D artwork. Each artist will use one 12’x8’ space on these partitions. There will be plenty of space between and around these partitions for 3-D and installation works.
Volunteers will also being adding electricity to the entire space. We will provide some overhead lighting and will provide power to every partition. Electrical plugs will be limited so please be cognizant of this when you plan your exhibit. Expect that each artist will have two or three plugs available to them. Lighting will large transformers could affect this. Artomatic plans to have basic lighting fixtures available for purchase at a discount. All Installation Artists will need to leave a $100 deposit check at the intake desk on site selection weekend. The deposit will be returned at Deinstallation after the artist's area is broom clean.
You must attend the orientation in order to participate in Artomatic.
When to Attend
Rather than allocate a specific exhibition space to each artist, each participant will receive an assigned day and time to select their own space. This way, you will have the opportunity to select a space that inspires you. Please be prompt. Latecomers will be accommodated at the discretion of the Registration Committee.
If you can’t come during your scheduled time, contact Registration@artomatic.org to schedule another appointment on Monday, April 14 or Tuesday April 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm only. Please be prompt.
Artomatic is for Individual Artists
Since the Artomatic mission is to represent individuals, each individual artist must register for the event and come to site selection. "Priority" for site selection is based on the order of registration — so folks who register around the same time will be in the same site selection group. If a group of artists all register at the same time and are assigned to the same site selection group, they can try to choose spaces in proximity.
If you need assistance completing your On-Line Registration, please contact registration@artomatic.org.
