Laura Peery

Laura Peery's work was originally inspired by childhood memories of time spent in her grandmother's New Orleans dress shop, "College Frocks". Her medium is porcelain clay, which she discovered can be made to resemble fabric by impressing it with textured materials. Her whimsical teapots have working lids and glazed interiors, but offer only the possibility of function rather than the true promise. Laura's work is on exhibit at Waverly Street Gallery and is in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
